DILLMAN’S TEACHINGS INSPIRATIONAL

About 13 years ago, I ran across some BLACK BELT articles about George Dillman and his work with pressure points for self-defense. As soon as I ordered his tapes on the subject, my interest was truly aroused as new horizons were opened. Thanks to BLACK BELT and Dillman, I learned about his research and it gave me new goals for my life, eventually leading me to take a 1,000 hour course at the Acupressure Institute in Berkely, CA; a 500-hour course on Tongan healing and various other courses at different schools specializing in Chinese acupuncture. I’m now working toward my doctorate in acupuncture and will soon start my own school.

On my first visit to Dillman’s dojo in Reading, PA, I asked one of his seventh-degree black belts to explain the opening move of a kata called Rohei. As a fifth-degree, I practice this form on a regular basis. When that martial artist, a man named
Ron Richards, showed me the first move, he lightly touched two points – and that’s all I remembered until I found myself sitting on the floor after having been knocked unconscious.

That led me to a most rewarding study of the Chinese meridian system, which can be used for health and self-defense. And it gave me a vocation I’ll enjoy for the rest of my life. I wish to thank BLACK BELT and George Dillman for turning my life around and for giving me a profession I enjoy to this day.
